OUR PROJECTS

Save Panda Network

The red panda lives in the Nepalese part of the Himalayas. They live in the trees here and love bamboo. This species is seriously threatened by habitat loss, hunting, climate change and stray dogs that carry diseases. The organization 'Red Panda Network' is therefore committed to saving this special species and its habitat.

The lungs of South Asia

This habitat is not only very important for the panda. The forests in the Himalayas are seen as the lungs of South Asia. In addition, the rivers in this area are important water sources for many Asian countries. Protecting these forests therefore contributes to the broad well-being of both humans and animals.

Together with the locals

For example, the Red Panda Network has set up the 'Punde Kundo' project, training 150 local residents to monitor the red panda and its habitat. By involving the local population and informing them about the vulnerability of the species, an enormous contribution is made to the long-term nature protection in this area. The organization also helps the population with the sustainable use of natural products in order to prevent deforestation.

A red panda home

Avifauna supports the Red Panda Network. Partly thanks to our help, the organization recently started planting 'A Red Panda Home'. The organization has purchased 22 hectares of land in eastern Nepal, in the heart of the red panda habitat. This area will be replanted and restored to a suitable habitat for the red panda. The area is protected by the Ilam's District Forest Office. This way, the red pandas can continue to live here carefree!
