Avifauna was not only the first bird park in the Netherlands, but also in the world. Since opening in 1950, the park has only gotten bigger and more fun. First of all, no less than 280 different species of birds live in our park. The park has also become an official zoo, with prosimians and red pandas, among others. And then there is also a fantastic playground in the center of the park, with a huge slide. That makes Avifauna a fun day out for both young and old!
In honor of the opening, the posters depicted a toucan. All these years, the toucan has remained iconic for our park. Bird demonstrations are held in high season, where the birds fly, eat and hunt as they are used to in nature. Meanwhile, the caretaker tells you the best facts. You can also attend the feeding of the penguins and pelicans. You can feed the curious, brightly colored lorikeets yourself with a cup of nectar, a highlight of the day for many visitors! Avifauna makes bird watching a real experience and in the different parts of the world with accompanying birds, prosimians, dwarf monkeys, wild guinea pigs and red pandas also reside. This creates unique combinations that cannot be seen anywhere else.
