Agreements and arrangements

Avifauna has made agreements with three municipalities regarding the NME. This means that the rules and agreements may differ per municipality. If you fall outside these 3 municipalities, it is of course also possible to purchase products. Below is a brief explanation of what has been agreed per municipality. More information about this can be found on our website.

Alphen aan den Rijn

The NME is largely funded by a subsidy from the Municipality of Alphen aan den Rijn. The municipality considers it important to increase the connection with nature by allowing people to physically experience and enjoy it. If children and adults feel more connected to nature, they will want to take better care of it. In addition, all participating schools make a contribution, and the Foundation contributes Vogelpark Avifauna contributes financially based on the park's idealistic objectives in the fields of education, nature conservation, and biodiversity.

In recent years, the contribution from Avifauna has increased significantly. This is partly because the €2 per pupil rate has been applied since 2006 and has not been indexed. To partially offset the increase in costs, Avifauna will facilitate NME starting from the 2026/2027 school year for €3,00 per student.

For just €3,00 per pupil, schools are entitled to as many products as the number of classes at the school. They can freely choose from material packages, teaching kits, excursions, and guest lessons. If an additional request is desired, this is possible for a fee. Transport of the packages is handled by Avifauna, and material packages and teaching kits are delivered to and collected from the school. The school is responsible for organizing transport for excursions.

The NME is carried out by the Foundation Vogelpark Avifauna in accordance with the agreements and guidelines made in consultation with the foundation boards and the municipality.

Nieuwkoop & Kaag and Braasem

Schools in the municipalities of Nieuwkoop and Kaag en Braassem can purchase NME products at a reduced rate. In January/February, an invoice will be sent to the school or school board based on the amounts listed below. A one-time administration fee of €10 is charged per application (school). The costs per product are shown below.
